Why We Built Pathcore

PathCore was founded when a group of practicing pathologists recognized a fundamental gap in pathology care across India. The challenge wasn't a shortage of capable pathologists—it was a shortage of access to subspecialty expertise.

The most difficult cases are rarely difficult because of a lack of knowledge or skill. They are difficult because subspecialty expertise is concentrated in a handful of major academic and cancer centers, while the infrastructure to access that expertise has not kept pace with growing demand.

At the same time, India's expanding network of digital pathology scanners presented an opportunity. We realized that, with the right technology, we could connect pathologists everywhere to the expertise traditionally available only at a few specialized institutions.

This challenge is particularly acute in oncology. Cancer centers across India receive thousands of referral cases from smaller hospitals, district centers, and rural communities, creating an enormous diagnostic workload for a limited number of subspecialists. Improving access to expertise is essential—not only for efficiency, but for better patient care.

Our first solution, SlideRounds, addresses the knowledge gap. It is a curated library of real diagnostic cases annotated by practicing subspecialists, capturing not only the final diagnosis but the complete reasoning process behind it. Rather than functioning as a textbook or lecture series, SlideRounds allows pathologists and trainees to learn by working through authentic cases alongside experts, building the pattern recognition and diagnostic judgment that define expert practice.

Our second product, PathScribe AI, addresses one of the largest administrative burdens in pathology: structured cancer reporting. After making a diagnosis, pathologists often spend 15–20 minutes manually transferring information into standardized cancer reporting templates. PathScribe eliminates this repetitive work by converting an unstructured pathology report into a complete structured cancer data sheet in under a minute, with every extracted data element traceable to the original report for verification and review.

Together, these products reflect our vision for AI in pathology. We do not believe AI should replace the pathologist's judgment—that expertise remains central to every diagnosis. Instead, we believe AI should amplify it: reducing administrative burden, expanding access to subspecialty knowledge, and enabling every pathologist, regardless of location, to practice at the highest level.

At PathCore, we are building the digital infrastructure for the next generation of pathology—one where expertise is accessible, workflows are intelligent, and every pathologist has the tools to deliver better care.
